Resort Information
Nestling in the Apennine Hills, Fiuggi's health-giving waters have made the town a favourite spa retreat for many years. Ideally situated between Rome and the Bay of Naples, the town has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. It's the perfect place to relax and watch the world go by.
Itinerary
Day One
Fly to Rome and transfer to Fiuggi (approximately one hour).
Day Two
Rest in the resort today, or join our optional excursion to Naples and Capri. A short tour will reveal the Garibaldi and Plebiscito squares, the lively 'Spaccanapoli' quarter, the San Carlo Opera House and the Royal Palace.
Afterwards, we board the jet-foil to beautiful Capri. Enjoy the views from Villa San Michele in Anacapri; take a chair-lift ride to the summit of Solare (payable locally); and visit the main town to wander the Augustus Gardens or shop - or more likely window-shop - at the many exclusive designer stores.
Day Three
Today's highlight is our included tour of Pompeii. Buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in A.D.79, excavations have gradually revealed the magnificent city's remains. From there we journey to famous Sorrento, with its maze of alleyways crammed with shops, bars and restaurants, and its blue waters dotted with colourful pedalos and sailboats.
Day Four
Our optional excursion today is to Rome. Enjoy a tour of the ancient city, including fantastic views of the Colosseum and Forum, the great basilicas and the Baroque fountains. In the Vatican City, view the dome of St Peter's which looks over the vast Square, nearby is the Sistine Chapel home to Michelangelo's fabled frescoes.
Day Five
This afternoon's optional tour is to Castelli Romani, the collective name for the 13 towns in the hills above Rome. After a drive through delightful scenery, we'll stop at Castel Gandolfo, the Pope's summer retreat, and visit the famous wine town of Frascati.
Day Six
Transfer back to Rome for check-in and your flight home.
